There are over 300 species of fig (ficus) in Thailand. This one is known as the Strangling Fig.
It doesn't actually strangle its host. It wraps its many runners around the tree and at the same time sends leaves up higher than the host. This is what eventually kills the host tree; it is starved for sunlight.
